Hi Classmates,
I just saw the obituary for Dennis Boshears. I met Dennis in the 4th grade and new him all of the way
through high school. What a great person. He left us way to early.        Scott Harrison  12/29/11

From Curt Wyatt.........11/16/11
oh i remember billy the air ace alright. i think it was our sophomore year or some such
and he talked tim watrud, rick newland, and i into a pleasant afternoon flight in his T-craft.
you know...one of those planes that are built like those old .10 cent kites we used to buy as kids.
shook to beat hell just stepping into it. it was my first flight in a small plane/don't know about
tim and rick. so bill, super ace, the first thing he does is "a stall" the first thing i do is piss my pants.
i wanted out. i think i latched onto rick hoping he would save me. if you have never done a
stall just don't get dressed/go up wearing a bucket. the next thing we had to do was cut
the roll of toilet paper with the wing. was it a memorable afternoon...oh yeah!
was it a fun afternoon...oh no! but i will never forget billy and his planes.
i'll see ya again someday bill!

The following e-mail was sent to Dana Pinney about Bill Warren.

The Tailwheeler’s Journal No. 24

Bill Warren

Oct 13, 1946 - September 29, 2011

September 30, 2011. I just don’t take primary students. I’ve discovered that I love the progress you see right away in teaching a six-hour course in tailwheel flying. It suits me to a T. I guess I took Grace because she was recommended by the son of the guy who sold me “Ace, the Wonder Dog”. Jessie, who played “Ace”, was my companion and partner for 15 years. They say that every man is entitled to one good dog and one good woman. Jessie was the dog.

In many ways, Grace is a flight instructor’s dream. She bought a tailwheel airplane in which to learn to fly. That doesn’t happen too often. She rented a little place down the street from me so she could stay at “Tailwheel Town“ and fly every day. That’s REAL rare.

I soloed Grace today. It was one of those magic moments that so few of us have experienced. It’s probably almost as cool for the instructor as it is for the student. My pal, Tom and I sat on a golf cart at the end of the runway and watched Grace go around and around, dealing with traffic and pulling off some nice three-points. I cut her shirt tail. We took pictures. Then Grace and I flew back to Tailwheel Town at Sisters.

Bill Warren in his Stearman over Medford, Oregon C 1977

As soon as I stepped out of the little Pacer my phone rang. It was Vic Olson, a very old friend who I hardly ever see any more. Stupidly, I greeted him with good humor and asked what had prompted the call. I should have known.

“Bill died last night”, Vic reported.

Later, my friend Steve Pankonin would tell me that Bill was sitting on his little deck overlooking the river, watching the water flow by after a day of flying when his heart simply gave out.

Bill Warren was a unique individual. Those who’ve read “Brian’s Flying Book” know that I have always blamed Bill for getting me into the air show business.

They may not know that Bill also got me back into flying after an abortive start when I was in the service. Bill took me out in his J3 and gave me dual with the airspeed covered, the ball covered, and no intercom. My introduction to instruments-covered, attitude flying started with Bill Warren. Later, George DeMartini would turn me into a teacher of that kind of flying, but it was Bill who started the whole damned thing.

Beer soaked bar-flying sessions would then contribute greatly to my education in the flying game. But ol’ Bill was always there, along with Tom Sanco, George DeMartini, Jim Reynolds and some others.

Bill introduced me to water-skiing in an airplane. First in his Cub, then in his Chipmunk. Once, when I was filming him skiing his Chipmunk in the Rogue River he banked a little steeply. He caught his wingtip in the water, ripping off an expensive fiberglass tip complete with equally expensive strobe light.

“Do you think you could jump in and get that tip for me”, asked Bill over the radio.

Gawd, that water was cold!

Bill had a checkered flying career. He started as a kid, doing the local airplane owners a huge favor by going down the flight line at night, sumping each aircraft a little bit to make sure that there was no water in their gas. He poured the sumpage into his Cub so it wouldn’t go to waste. He pumped gas, turned a wrench, crewed in B17s converted to fire bombers. He flew air ambulance for Mercy Flights, seeded the fog with ground up dry ice sprinkled by his assistant, Zimmo, while he flew the approach into Medford, sometimes virtually to the ground. I believe he embodied the philosophy of “just show me how to start it… I can fly it.”

Bill restored a DeHavilland Chipmunk with a 200hp Ranger engine. He flew airshows with it for several years. My friend Kirby Mills, who was a parachute jumper in Bill’s Great American Flying Circus, said, “Bill was a real star for several years”. Bill flew his J-3 Cub with a rope ladder hanging from the struts. His cousin, stuntman Ronn Dilling, leaped from the hood of a speeding car onto that ladder, once scraping his sneakers on the runway. Bill landed the Cub on the top of a car. He broke a gear leg on the Cub doing that once. Years later, when it happened to me, I knew how to handle it because of Bill’s experience. It seemed like Bill often led the way.

Bill’s last act in the airshow business was with a 450 Stearman whose wings carried two female wing walkers. “The Daring Damsels” was a hit on the air show stage for several seasons with Bill’s then-wife, Connie and good friend, Kathy Reavis.

Bill got out of the air show business and did a little movie flying, most notably in “Fandango” doing some fun gags in an absurdly painted Cessna 182.

His health let him down. He had a brush with death as his heart battled an infection. He became diabetic. He changed. Those of us who knew him immediately saw the change. He slowed down. His speech changed and became somewhat slurred. But he never lost two gifts. He was a great pilot. And, best of all, he loved to teach flying.

By the time he died, Bill had gone full circle. He had a little Tailorcraft and he was teaching people to fly. Bill believed that most people have an intuition to fly and that a teacher who could simply help them get out of their own way would do them the most good. Bill’s teaching style was a little “wizmic”, but I believe it was based on sound principles.

If you questioned how to coordinate, Bill would tell you, “feel your butt”. And, as George DeMartini and I joked unknowingly the day Bill died, if you were an attractive woman Bill might add, “Here, let ME feel your butt”. He did like the ladies. And you know something, they liked him as well.

.

My friend, Steve Pankonin, told me that Bill was sitting on his little deck next to the river. He’d had a good day of flying and was relaxing, watching the water flow by. His heart suddenly gave out and he was gone.

So it’s been a big two days. One of the great pilots died. And a new pilot soloed. How’s that for the “circle of life”.

I don’t know where this flight is going to take you, Bill, but I know that when you get there you’ll have some Happy Swooping. Thanks for everything.

Your grateful friend,

Brian

I just read in the Oregon Stater that Michael Bickler passed away.
Attached is a copy of his obituary. The newspaper obituary has a nice
photo of him.       David Hittle   9/12/11

Michael J. "Magic Mike" Bickler

Bickler, Michael 'Magic Mike' J. 64 Jan. 05, 1947 June 01, 2011 Mike was born in Medford and adopted by Jack and Eva Bickler. He attended Medford High School where he met Marilyn Miller who became his high school sweetheart and who he later married while attending Oregon State University. Mike graduated first in his class in his graduate major from Humboldt State University and from there had a successful career in marine biology and fish and wildlife. Mike was responsible for the creation of Oregon's first free fishing day. He was instrumental in helping other states pass equivalent legislation and today every state in the Union has passed free fishing day legislation. As Education Director for Oregon Fish and Wildlife, Mike started the successful Becoming an Outdoor Woman program and the popular Master Hunter program. He loved his country and spent 20 years with the U.S. Army, retiring in 1991 as a Major in Civil Affairs. He was also well-known as a top wedding photographer in Oregon and ran a highly successful studio that is now run by his daughters. Mike will be remembered by all as a fierce competitor and someone who thought outside the box. He had a true love of his family and imparted to his children the drive to succeed. He was also an avid gardener with a green thumb. Mike's greatest joys were fishing and hunting around the world with his wife and children and watching his children's sports activities all the way from pee wee to college ball. Please join Mike's wife, Marilyn; daughters, Carrie and Chandra; and sons, Jon and Kevin, in celebrating this beloved and accomplished man at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary. Gifts may be made to the Casket Alumni Club in memory of Michael Bickler, Sigma Pi Fraternity, in care of Comcoa, P.O. Box Q, Corvallis, OR 97339

David,
So sorry to hear of Mike's passing.  Thank you for forwarding the information.
Jodi

Ron,
Thank you for the ADVANCE notice!  That was easy to fit into my tight schedule .  Can't play golf - leg brace gets into the way, and my arthritic knee would be a problem.  Can't play tennis - staples in my arm and arthritic knee say to keep out of the court. I am however, interested in the river trip but must wear boots as that is what my Polio Brace is attached to!  It has been a Godsend to me - set me back 30 or more years in walking!  I can't do long walks, but get around nicely if it is only a few blocks long.  Amazing that as a kid of 4 and 5 my cousin and I contacted the Polio Virus.  Because I was not lackadaisical and worked hard as a lineman for 23 years, the neurons started dying, and the muscles turned to fat, and the ankle and foot got quite sloppy.  I thank the Veterans Administration for all they have done for me!  Thanks again for the advance notice! I know you guys will do a GREAT job!
Stephen Cutting  09/05/2011

I will make it a point to be there when I make my bi annual trip out there!!!  Kate's house is an awesome venue for this.
Hope all is well with you, Ron!
We are dodging tornadoes (no, not BLACK TORNADOES) back here. 3 miles from our house there are trees snapped in half from earlier tornadoes. Our neighborhood so far has been spared.
Take care and see ya next July!
-Ginny Teeter Slifcak  09/05/2011

THIS SOUNDS LIKE GREAT FUN. IT WAS A REALLY GOOD TIME AT KATIES, (THANKS KATIE).
MIKE AND I WILL PUT THAT IN OUR CALENDER FOR JULY 2012.  HOPE TO SEE ALOT OF CLASSMATES
THERE.      CAROL & MIKE RILEY   09/05/2011

What a great idea, I'll put the date on my 2012 calendar.   Sharon Hugdahl Curl  09/05/2011

Thank you, Mike.  Keep us posted.      Dave and Ruth (Grant) Brown  09/05/2011

Classmates of 1965,  The following story about Fred Graten was submitted to our web site
by Dennis Neeley.
Thank you Dennis, for giving us this information.
Jodi

210 Fred Graten, CPL.,UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS,(NOT the US ARMY) VIETNAM--DECEASED,
Mid Air collision, !Quang Tri, 11 April, 1968 Narrative Follows:
Personal Narrative:
As I remember that evening at Quang Tri back in 68 I was assigned to night medevac and Fred was
assigned to Khe Sanh night medevac. Fred was going home in a couple of days and he only lacked 2
missions to be able to display 4 silver stars on his Air Medal ribbon. This was something important to him.
The action at Khe Sahn had slowed and it didn't look good for him getting those last 2 missions on his
last day of flying. He asked to change birds with me and explained why; I said sure.

As expected with the change I didn't go out that night and I got a good nights sleep in the ready bunker.
The next morning I went to chow where I saw Crewchiefs Johnsom, Morton and Parnnel. They looked at me
as if they where looking at a ghost. That's when I found out what happened the previous night.
This was the first of 3 times I should have died but something always changed at the last minute.
I turned 60 a few days ago. It has been almost 40 years since that night and I have oftened wondered
why I was spared not once but 3 times.

Did not know about the reunion; wish I had. Thanks. . . .Judy (Mee) Ryan      3/16/11

Hi Judy,  Sorry you didn't know about the reunion.  This web site is a good
source of information about what is being planned for our class.  Hope to
see you at our next function.    Jodi

Hi Jodi -
I guess I have stayed undercover long enough. Thought I would reveal my
location and e-mail to anyone who might care. I retired from NCR in 1999
and continue to live in Springboro, Ohio with my wife Patti. Would like
to have my e-mail added to the list.  Man I looked at the pictures from the reunion.
That must be from some other class.  All my classmates were much younger
than the people in those pictures.......Joe Thornton   1/25/11

Hi Joe----It is great to hear from you.  Thanks for letting us know where you
are.  Hope you can join us at our next function!    Jodi

Dear Jodi,
First off, many thanks to you, the committee, and especially Kate
for all your efforts in organizing a terrific reunions weekend.
Secondly, I received a telephone call from Jack Rose late last week.
He was trying to locate Brian Iverson, only to find out that Brian died two years ago.
Brian would have graduated in our class, but moved to Boise when his father
was relocated there.  He attended Roosevelt and Hedrick and many
in our class were close friends with him. . . . . .Tim Watrud   8/17/10

Hi Tim,
Thank you for the update about Brian Iverson. I am sure those who knew him
will appreciate your information.

we are sorry you missed such a great time. I think we, the committee, had as much fun organizing it as
the rest of you did enjoying the festivities. It was so great to see all of you and reconnect. I think it's so
important to keep these ties that we share and continue keeping in touch.
Thanks again, SO MUCH, for making this so very special
    Karyn (Fixsen) Godwin   8/9/10

See you all next week at the 45th!!!   Jodi     7/30/10

Wonder of wonders. My life has drastically altered and I plan to attend. Can I pay at the door for dinner Saturday?
Doug Sweet 07/30/2010

Doug, We need to provide a minumum count guarantee on Tuesday August 3rd.  The pre-registration is to get enough food supplied.  Pay at the door is okay however and RVCC will work with the extra meal needs at that time. . . . Ron Wallace

Sorry I will not be able to join you this year for the class reunion.
Thanks to those who have worked on organizing this event.  Marlene Hall     7/20/10

Hi Ron,
I am afraid I won't be able to come this year. Say hello to all for me. I will come to the 50th if still up & able.
Please keep my E Mail & address on file.   Dennis Boshears  7/27/10

Hi Dennis,
Sorry you can't make it. It would have been great to see you again.
Ron W

Thanks to the committee for all of your work on organizing the reunion for this August.  It sounds like alot of fun. I have  enjoyed reading peoples comments here online at the website and remembering special times and friends from the past.  I am sorry that I won't be able to be there this summer, but hopefully Don and I can make it to the next one. Thanks to Jodi for transferring everyones comments, hello to my Spanish class buddy, Mike Finley, my very best wishes go out  to Phillip Fromeyer and your family , and one last comment!  In the Fall Issue of Veranda Magazine I happened to read an article on a home built in the Medford area by Jim Root and his wife. If it is Jim from our class, it was wonderful to see a touch of the georgeous Northwest down here in So. California!
                                                           Nancy Elmgren Driskell 7/12/2010

We will be attending some of the events--probably Friday and Sat evening.
Wife:Betsy Singleton and 4 boys.  Victor Snyder     7/12/10

Looking forward to seeing everyone! Always a great time and thanks to those of you
who have worked so hard putting this together. . . . . Sidney (Slead) Hedges    7/11/10

Ron, I plan on being at both events with being on the committee and offering my services
to opening each and every bottle of wine. Needless to say, every bottle I open will have to
be sampled, for purity sake only. You understand. Scott Harrison     6/28/10

Scott........We will be soooooo thankful for your "Wine Expertise"!!!     Jodi (Simmons) Parker   :-}

With hundreds of graduates in our class, I am suprised that you haven't received more "yes" responses.  However, I'm afraid I'm one of the "no"s as well.  My husgand and I live in British Columbia - and I no longer have family in Medford.  So we just don't travel to that area any more.  If we do head south, it's only as far as Salem where my mother lives now.  It would be fun to see many of my old classmates so perhaps we'll make it another year - when we're both retired!.  Wishing you all the best.
Mary (Bannister) Luethe . . . . 06/25/2010

Have to be at Howard Prairie on Aug 18 for family/friends camp out, can't afford the time
 to take two trips from LA. We'll be at Sugar Pine campgrounds 18-22. Best to everyone;
I'll miss seeing folks. I'm getting another book published in Sept.
"Contexts & Choices: a guide to practical writing." Hot stuff, I know, but I have to
make a living with the least damage to myself. . . . Doug Sweet    6/22/10

Darn the luck Doug and Dennis!!!  We will be missing you both as well.  Ron W

Tell Big Foot, I am unable to make it this year. Will miss you all.  Dennis Neeley   6/10/10

Thank you all so much for your hard work on this. We are unable to be with you,
but send our best to all. Since Hurricane Katrina our lives have been very different.
I am entering my second year of cancer survival (peritoneal mesothelioma),
and cheer on all my fellow survivors, of EVERYTHING, in the class of 65.
Philip Frohnmayer        5/29/10

Hi Philip,
So good to hear from you!  Congratulations on your milestone.  We will miss seeing you at the reunion.
We are staying informed of the struggles taking place in that part of the country.
Keeping you in our thoughts.  Jodi

I  am updating my email address for you as I have not received any.
I am thinking you don't have it or have my old one.  Still trying to work out
the logistics for the party this August.  Will definitely try to make some
of the events. . . . .Nancy Lewis  3/31/10

The reunion looks like another big time event.  Looking forward to it.  . . . .
Jack Mullen  03/30/2010

Please record my new address and email address. I am planning on coming to our 45th.
Hope to make contact with Sue, Karen, Jody, Connie, and all those who were in madrigals
with me. . . . . Looking forward....Lois (Jacobs) McKenzie       3/5/10

Hi Jodi!!!  Great to hear from you.  Yes, I did want my info
updated on the web site.  Unfortunately I won't be able to
attend the reunion, but I love the web site.  It makes me
feel so sentimental and miss all my classmates!!!!
Thanks so much :o).   Linda (Frederick) Kerr      2/20/10
Hi Linda,  Thank you for the update!!  Sorry you won't be able to attend the reunion.
We will miss you!!  Our committee is having fun with the plans and looking forward
to another great function!!    Jodi   :-}

HEADS UP!! I received a real suspicious looking e-mail today, with no clear identity,
saying they received my e-mail address from our class website. Needless to say, I did not
respond or click on the link. . .   Mark  Milne   10-30-09

USMC -Viet Nam 1969.....Steve Sparling....10-24-09

Any new news about our 45th reunion? Count me in...Lois (Jacobs) McKenzie.......10-23-09

I think it would be fun to invite the class of 1966 and 1964. Would be fun to see some of
those people as well.  Sherri Miller......10-25-09

Sherri, thanks for the important suggestion.  We will again be extending that invitation.  Evidently those groups are not as active as ours.  In the past the leaders have not been very responsive to our invites.  Seems like they would make an effort to make contacts. But it must not happen.  If any one wants to invite friends from other classes they are definately welcome.  When we begin to post attendees they will be acknowledged.  Ron W

Yes we plan to attend.  Sorry, events didn't allow us to attend the 60th birthday bash,
but planning to make this event for sure.
Greg Dippel...10/25/2009

Yes we plan to attend.  If you miss an event, it can't be rescheduled.
See ya in August.
Jack Rose.....10/25/2009

Yes. Sounds like fun.  Rebecca Starnes.....10/24/2009

Yes.  Looking forward to it.  John fisher...09/08/2009

Yes.  Yes, Karen and I are planning to attend. Ron, thanks for getting this
event started early.
Jim Cox...06/10/2009

You betcha, I will make it. Always great to see old friends. Kate Mitchell the last I heard

You probably already know that the class lost our friend Mike Barker July 17,2009.
His full notice appears in the August 09,2009 Medford Mail Tribune.. . . Steve Nelson 08/12/2009

Scott,
In case you didn't hear, Mike Barker died of ALS. His obituary is in the August 5 edition
of the statesmanjournal.com. I recall his note to the reunion committee telling his classmates
that he had ALS and that he hoped he would be in Medford for the 45th celebration.
Unfortunately, it was not to be. Mike was in my homeroom class (Mrs. Foley's 8th grade algebra)
at McLoughlin JHS and I enjoyed being around him. Later in life when we lived in Salem I would see
him at different events. He signed my junior high school yearbook with his good wishes for my future
(my family was moving to Wyoming) and he wrote "The best kid in school, Mike Barker."  You know,
he just might have been. Mike was a kind and good person. I'm sorry he won't be with us.
Hope all is well with you. Are you still on the reunion committee?
Would you please send me the link to the new MHS class of 1965 web site--somehow I've lost my connection.
Will be heading to Ashland in October for plays. I always look forward to travels to southern Oregon.
Best,    Betty (Lou) Hatch-Troseth   08/17/2009

I regret to inform the class of "65" that Mike Pollard passed away
unexpectedly on Sat. Aug 22.  Service to be held on Sat Aug 29 in Reno, NV.
I will pass on more information as I receive it. . . . Gary W. Smith  08/25/2009

I have some information that might be interesting to a few folks.  all the pictures I took while in Vietnam are now on the Internet.  Short of 600 slides.  Yes, some are not included - the bodies and such have been removed.  If you want to create a link - that is okay by me.

Here is the web site where my Vietnam pictures ended up.

You can follow the links below, or just click on the last link and follow the directions following that option.

The source of the pictures:
  Start:
    Photo Gallery:

Vietnam Era:

roll down to the jeep picture:

click the first slide with words on it:
Click the Full Screen option on the top left corner and then either of the right arrows.  The short arrow is set up for a slide show, where you can adjust the length of each slide or the right long arrow is for individual control, and a back option with the long left arrow.

I am not sure if this can be accomplished on your system, but on mine it is a hit/miss.  If you wish to get a closer view, use the picture zoom option that MIGHT be on your browser.  I am looking into if it is possible to get larger pictures or a way to click and save a larger picture.  Not sure though if that is an option at this point.

Ron, please use Bcc or a group list when you mail to multiple addresses.  Putting them all in To: or Cc: makes them all too visible to address harvesters.  Thanks, Dave Doty  06/11/2009

Thanks for the advice Dave, great idea.

I'm hoping to be there but if I get a part in a play (Nunsense) I've wanted to do for a long time, the last weekend of the show is the weekend of this reunion!! This is gonna be a hard decision since I can't be in 2 places at once, dang!!!   Virginia (Teeter) Slifcak  06/12/2009

Hey Ron!  I am GOING to come to this one.  Keep me posted.

Mary Duncan/Zier   06/11/2009

All our announcements will be on this website stay tuned and tell others about it.

You guys are relentless!!! OK, I will plan on a weekend next year--August?

July?

I will plan on hot weather, something we have actually experienced in Seattle this month. And if I sock away $100. each month, by next summer I may be able to afford my car's gas bill to Medford and back.

Is there a government bailout for this?

Gary Quinn  06/11/2009

Gary, I sure hope you do make it this time.  Lately each visit to Seattle has been so short I've spent all the time with family.  Retirement will change that now and will make more time next visit.      Ron W.

Thanks for contacting me.  I have retired from Castilleja, and my new email address is kftobey@gmail.com.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Karen (Foley) Tobey 06/11/2009

Ron,
Thanks for the reunion invite!  I will try and make it if vacation and travel logistics can be worked out.
I don't see Hal Kingslein in the invite list.  Can you send him one?   He gets his email at hal@hedgelumber.com and says he is interested.  Thanks,                                                       RICK NEWLAND 06/11/2009

 Hi Jack,

Thanks for the information about Dean Hanson.  We have had no email on file for Dean.  Patricia is actually on our missing classmate list.  Until now we didn't know they were together.  Great job!  Keep flushing out these missing friends.     Thanks again.       Ron     8/14/08

Hi Ron:  I ran into Dean hansen who apparently didn't get any information on our little reunion.  His email is dean.hansen@therightbank.com
His wife, Patricia is also a 65 grad, I think her maiden name was Valdez.  Headin for Lake on Sunday, 24th.  Thanks again for hosting all of us.  jw      8/14/08

Since hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on the refineries and the Russians have claimed the oil fields beneath the rapidly melting north pole, and since when I bought my last car I demanded the 6 cylinder so I could get out of the way of the botoxed beauties once removed who wheel their Hummers through the parking lots with impunity, and since I have to be in southern Oregon on Aug. 14 and can't afford two trips from LA, I won't be seeing folks as I'd planned.

Update for absolutely no one: I finally got a book published, about the time to retire. "Grounds for Writers" on Amazon. Maybe your grandkids will be forced to use it at some major university near you? There's no end to the intellectual damage I can do and still get paid for it. Best to all. Enjoy each other. Sorry I won't be there.

I know where the lodge is but where are the lunch and Sunday breakfast activities going to be? Do we need to make reservations for dinner or is it a group thing? Thanks for all the work.  David Gregory 07/21/08

Hi David, Thanks for writing.  We will be in the area right in front of the restaurant and the little store behind the public beach area. It is right where they have the BBQ on Saturday's and show the movies on Friday nights. Which by the way some are thinking about coming to the "vintage" movie on Friday nite. The Sunday breakfast will be at my place you have been there before and we will give directions there again. The Sunday breakfast probably will not start until 10:00 AM or so. More like a brunch actually. The dinner is the BBQ offered by Lake of the Woods if desired. No group dinner is planned as part of our activities. Naturally we will all be in and around the site for the evening. There will be a band and it is Sidewinder a country band from 4 - 8 PM.

We'll be looking forward to seeing you. Ron Wallace 07/21/08

Hi Ron and classmates,
This sounds like soooo much fun. I wish Mike and I could be there.
However we had already planned our vacation time to go with our
trailer over to Lincoln City and couldn't really change it. The pictures
of the lake look so beautiful and inviting. We haven't been there in years.
Hope everyone has a great time. We'll be looking forward to the next event.
This was awesome of you all to put this together, to keep everyone in touch.
                                            Sincerely, Mike&Carol Riley     7/17/08

Would love to attend the Porters dinner August 1st. . . . Tanis (Rose) Teich   7/14/08

Guess I just can't stay away! I'll be out in Medford that
whole week before, but probably will only be able to go Fri. night (to
Porter's) or Sat. during the day, not staying Sat. night.
Looking forward to it!    Ginny  (Teeter)  Slifcak . . . 7/09/08

Ron,  Count me in on all or a portion of the activities. Do you need any help?
I am leaving the country until the 24th, but would be glad to assist in any way I can after that date.
Michael V. Finley  7/07/08

It was fun looking at past pics.  Most of you have changed a
little, of course I look exactly like I did in 65. Well almost.
Weight,hair color is a little different......Rusty Spiker     6/18/08

Hope I wasn't the only one to see a nice article about Dick
Fosbury in the Wall Street Journal..6/15/08. Was a piece on what has
happened to some well known and not so well known Olympians. Was nice
to see and hear about Dick. I wonder if he remembers the time that I
was paired with him in PE during the boxing part of the year. He tried
to be nice to me...had a reach about 2 feet longer than me....but I did
a kangaroo jump up and popped him in the nose!! After that, the pity
was gone and he cleaned my clock!!
Best regards
Marty Fegley        6/16/08

Hi Ron,
I will be there also. We are staying next to Karyn. I spent many years
as a kid on that lake and even learned to ski there. See you then!
Linda (Bismark) Croswell.    6/11/08

Hi, I was happy to find this site. My name is on the list of
lost students. I graduated with the class of '65 and am interested in
upcoming events. Wish I had known about the 60th birthday party. My Mom
still lives in Medford and I get down there often. Thanks for this
opportunity to make contact. . . . .Carol Taylor      6/11/08

Hi Carol,
Thanks for contacting us. I have entered your information in our
records so we'll get you on the found list. We are getting together at
Lake of the Woods for a social time in August. If you are in the area
do consider joining us. Everyone is invited.    Ron Wallace

I won't be able to make the event in August, my medical team
is meeting then. In October I was diagnosed with ALS, but I'm still
fighting away and hope I'll still be around to come to our 45th.    Mike Barker  5/25/08

HEY, THIS WILL BE SO MUCH FUN!!! EVERYONE PLEASE TRY TO MAKE IT
FOR EVERYTHING OR SOME OF IT.. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN HELP YOU WITH
ANYTHING?? E-MAIL TDKATELUDWIG@YAHOO.COM CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL!!!

I didn't know this web site existed, but I am glad I stumbled
onto it. Great to keep up. Thanks to those that are doing all the work.
Hal Kingslien      5/14/08

Hey Ron,
Yes, a very long time. Thanks for getting me updated and providing the
website. Reading some of the posts to the web threw me into the wayback
machine. What a treat! Its good to see that the "usual suspects" are
still active and I am glad everybody has so much going on and gets together
occasionally. Lake of the Woods is being considered and will let you
know. Take care, and thanks again.  Hal Kingslien    5/14/08

WE MADE RESERVATIONS NEXT TO DAVID GREGORY
AT SUNSET FOR AUG. 1ST AND 2ND.
SEE YOU THERE IF NOT SOONER.   Diane (Holt) Yarrish   5/12/08

Ron,
Susie and I will be there.  Have reservations at Sunset campground
so will be there Fri.  Sounds like fun as usual.   David Gregory   5/12/08

Hi, Ed and I will there for the get together. We are at the
lake for the month of Aug. Good timing for us. Looking forward to
seeing all who can make it.   Connie (Bittle) Kessler   5/11/08

Hi Ron,

I am beginning to think that you are picking on me.  I will be out of town
again this time.  It would really be fun to see the class mates that can make
it but once again, just tell them “hi” for me.
Don Todd   (5/08/08

Ron,

Just received your invite. Thank you very much.  I will try to make it this time.
I have an engagement I must attend at the end of the month in Los Angeles, so this time,
the time frames just may work out.

On a side note, I was reading the memoriam information and such on
the Vets page.  Are you aware that Brian Robertson was there when Fred died?
I believe Brian was with the Seabees at the base where Fred's helicopter went down.
I think he was actually with Fred during his last moments.  I believe he lives right
there in Jacksonville.   With a teensy bit of effort, you can possibly locate Brian
and get him to tell you more about Fred.  Just a thought.

Lee Nelson also served with the Military Police there in South Vietnam.
Successfully completed his tour and came home.  Lee and I had been
pretty good friends over the years, and I was saddened to hear of his death.

Anyway, thank you again for keeping me in the loop.  Jack Mullen and I
have kept up a spirited dialogue on the current politics, which I have
enjoyed enormously.  Take care of yourself.
Dennis Neeley   5/02/08

Ron,     Very good to hear from you and trust all is going well.  I'll be there.   Tim Watrud      5/02/08

You managed to find the weekend I was already triple booked.
Otherwise, would have tried to make it, sounds like a good time.   -Paul Branchfield-  5/03/08

Thanks for the invite, Ron. Hope all is well   Bill Enyart  5/05/08

Sounds like fun. Thanks for the update.  Mike Young  5/02/08

Hi Ron,  Thanks so much for letting me know, but..............we will
not be here at that time.  I am so disappointed that I cannot attend!
We have a family reunion every year the first weekend of August
on the Coast.  Please keep me in the loop for other events and times,
I do appreciate it!  Have a great time!!!!!    Sharon Johnson   5/02/08

Hi Ron....would love to come....but have to confirm some dates before I commit......I
think my tailbone may be in shape by then and look forward to the lake .
Hope
all is well with you.
Shireen Kinney  5/02/08

Hi Ron:  I was planning to be at the Lake that weekend already!!!  I share a cabin with all
my sibs so I won't need lodging.  Thanks, Jack Watson   5/02/08

Great idea. I should be seeing you there.   Doug Sweet    5/02/08

Hi Ron -

I wanted to come to the meeting, but we have a new great granddaughter,
Lily, and our services were needed that night! We already made our
reservations at L of Woods for Friday and Saturday night. We are really
looking forward to it.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
Thanks, Karyn  RUSS KARYN GODWIN   5/02/08
